eCommerce Experience Architect:

This job contributes to REI’s success by defining and implementing the strategy
for REI’s website hierarchies, navigation and content structure to grow REI’s
Online business, enhance the customer experience, and advance the core co-op
values. Responsible for the findability and discoverability of digital content
by creating and managing online metadata and taxonomies, content relationships
and standards, and focusing on a user centered design process. Contributes to
the ongoing definition of REI’s information strategy. Models and acts in
accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

Specific Responsibilities:

* Responsible for developing content architectures and specifications to
facilitate information access and delivery.
* Creates and maintains website navigation organization and content hierarchies.
* Provides guidelines for content structure to support guided navigation
schemas, page templates, data governance standards and cross-sell functionality.

* Defines strategy for website related structured vocabulary development,
content assessment classification and organization and search strategies.
* Employs best practices in content architecture formulation to enhance the
customer experience, including indexing, browsing, search and retrieval.
* Contributes to the process of customer facing information design to ensure
that content is appropriately structured to meet REI’s business goals and the
needs of users.
* Provides strategic site structure plans and definitions using industry
standards.
* Provides guidelines to the process of REI’s information design and content
authoring to ensure that content is appropriately structured to meet business

* Identifies links and relationships among REI customer facing information
assets across channels and modalities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

* 5+ years experience in online content structure and organization.
* 5+ years experience with competitive site analysis and benchmarking in content
breadth, organization and presentation.
* 5+ years experience creating development plans for web content; recommending
content types and organization based on user needs and marketing goals,
identifying content gaps.
* 5+ years experience developing content attributes, taxonomies and
classification schemes (content models).
* Solid understanding of xml, xsl, xhtml, cascading style sheets, and html.
* Masters Degree in Library Science, Information Management, Science or related
field.

Manager, eCommerce Interaction Design

This job contributes to REI’s success by creating and managing REI’s interaction
design strategy and execution. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to lead
and mentor an interaction design team in a collaborative environment, and
demonstrated experience in utilizing brand messaging and strategy for innovative
and revenue-driving features. Proven record of delivery of web site and mobile
device interactions that combine strong usability with an engaging experience
and integrated brand communications. Contributes to high-impact eCommerce
development initiatives, and acts as an eCommerce representative in
cross-divisional forums. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values
and mission.

Specific Responsibilities:

* Creates, defines and manages the interaction design strategy and execution for
REI websites and mobile devices.
* Identifies and implements process improvements and design methodologies for
team efficiency and effectiveness.
* Directs, manages and mentors the interaction design team including daily work
oversight as well as career development and annual performance reviews.
* Works with cross divisional teams to contribute to maximizing and improving
cross channel customer experiences.
* Manages resources and design strategy for multiple projects simultaneously
from strategy planning to launch.
* Creates and maintains guidelines, specifications and interaction pattern
libraries to ensure that all digital products have a similar design approach.
* Works closely with User Experience, Information Architecture, and Brand

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

* 5+ years experience with interaction design methodologies.
* 3+ years building and leading teams.
* Extensive experience with Photoshop and Illustrator.
* Familiarity with one or more current web markup or scripting languages: XHTML,
CSS, Javascript, AJAX.
* Deep understanding of interaction design methods, techniques and best
practices.
* Demonstrated experience in leading interaction design of social media and
online communities.
* Good understanding of benefits and constraints of internet and mobile
technologies.
* Strong understanding of internet marketing & advertising, digital engagement
and related topics.
* Experience working via agile methodologies strongly preferred.
* Previous eCommerce design experience strongly preferred.
